I'm gunna sit here a crack a few tinnies and enjoy the show. Oh what did a set in motion.

Gas Station...why GAS, Petrol etc are liquids. :p

HAH! The heck if I know, Szark. Us Americans never claimed to make sense!! ;)

[Edit] Though maybe it might be better understood if I explain that over here Petrol is referred to as Gasoline... thus "gas" station is just the shortened form of saying "gasoline." Just like "auto" was shortened out of "automobile" before it eventually turned into "car, truck, wagon" etc.

[Edit 2] Stupid typos! Fixed typos, bad typos... *grabs baseball bat and chases after the Typo Gremlin... grrrrr*

Once upon a time, a long time ago, in a galaxy...no, sorry, in NZ, petrol was called benzine and I have no idea why.

But ... why an o or ie?

How did that get started?

wow, gas stations seems so American :)

Aussie slang - when in doubt dropping off the last one, two or three syllables of a word and just adding a big "o" or "ie" at the end :D aggro (aggressive), ambo (ambulance), avos (avocados), bottle-o (bottle shop), compo (workers compensation), journo (journalist), rego (vehicle registration), Salvos (Salvation Army stores), relo/relly/rellies (relative/relations), alkie (alcholhic), barbie (barbeque), bickie (biscuit, cracker or cookie), blowie (blow fly), brekkie (breakfast), lippie (lipstick), mozzie (mosquito), Tassie (Tasmania) or peoples names get shortened with an "z" or "za" like Baz/Bazza (Barry), Caz/Cazza (Carrie/Carol), Shaz/Shazza (Sharron) etc. or they go the other way and make names longer like Jonno/Johnno (Jon/John)

Sorry about hijacking this thread :)

Ah.

According to mental_floss

The term for Aussie slang and pronunciation is strine, and it is often characterized by making words as short as possible; the story goes it developed by speaking through clenched teeth to avoid blowies (blow flies) from getting into the mouth.

how about cockney rhyming slang, (I am siding with us Brits!) we just lengthen everything then shorten it again, lol

butcher's is look (butcher's hook)
Barnet is hair, (Barnet Fair)
China is mate (china plate)
Ruby (as in having a ruby ) is curry (Ruby Murray)
Hovis is dead (as in Brown bread)

personally I use butchers and barnet a lot, other half uses tommy when hes goning to the loo :(

Plus on top of it all you got the glotal stop (I got meself one of these )

we call petrol, petrol, so its petrol station, gas comes out of the cooker or your bum :p

Rae, I haven't personally tested the clothes in DAZ but understand from others they are fine, there are some renders at the start of this thread I think.

Well I went and bought this script (like how I put us back on topic) haven't used it yet. Just taking my own advice in case it does disappear. ;)

LOL. You started the train off to the siderail. :)

I like the script and wish I hadn't forgotten to back up 4.8's advanced dynamic controls. I don't want to move up to 4.9! LOL. But I will have to if I want any kind of control over the dynamics.

Eh, I'll be honest. I'd probably need to eventually update anyway to use the new dynamics thing that is currently being developed/talked about on the other thread.

Awesome
I did uninstall the beta first via DIM and all it's plug-ins and then ran CCCleaner. Opened DIM and within 10 mins I was updated. Connects to DAZ Connect (I know you don't like it), installed some Connect only freebies etc. I like it. Now to find some time to play with this script

Is it possible to work in a sort of offline mode, once 4.9 has done it's initial connect to the Daz network to verify and all of that? I mean, if I can do that, I can probably deal with it just fine...LOL. I don't have to BUY Connect content.

Yes Seliah, after the first initial login to verify you are supposed to be able to work offline (I haven't done this because my "surface" has a hissy fit with 4.9).
I'm still using 4.8 and will be for all time I think :p (unless I can see if my very old laptop that I don't use for anything now can use 4.9)

Mmm. Okay. Thanks, Rae. I will probably run the upgrade sometime this weekend. I do not use DIM, never have, never will, so no Beta for me, going to have to be a full dive into the 4.9 full release. LOL.

But at least that will allow me to make use of the advanced dynamic controls. That'll make it worth it... right? Hah!
